    update…I think I’ve tracked the problem down to *how* I’m posting: I’m using the WordPress iPad app…if I post from my computer using a web browser (setting the post to “image” and selecting a featured image), the featured image displays correctly. When I do the same in the WordPress App (set post to “image” and select a featured image)…it does not pick up the featured image and post it to Tumblr.

    That would make sense time-wise too, I think…I believe WordPress updated their iOS app about a month ago.

    Any chance there’s an update coming that would address this issue, if this is indeed what is happening? 99% of my posts are with that app…

    Thank you again in advance for your time!

    Probably not, no. I don’t have an iOS device.

    I am trying to sync posts from my WordPress blog to Tumblr and include the featured image at the top of each Tumblr post (like I have in my WordPress blog). Each of my posts has a featured image. Some also have images within the body of the post.

    After installing Tumblr Crosspostr today I used the Bulk Convert Post Format plugin to change all my post types to the “image” post format (based on the advice given in this thread). Although I get a message in WordPress that my post has been successfully crossposted, as of right now the featured image is not syncing to Tumblr.

    I am posting from Chrome on my laptop (not a mobile device).

    Based on what I have said can you suggest any steps to make sure the featured image syncs from WordPress to top of each Tumblr?

    A Tumblr post’s format can’t be changed after it has been created. This means if you create or crosspost a standard/text post, you can’t later change it to be an image/Photo post. This is unfortunately a limitation imposed by Tumblr without an explanation.

    Thanks for the heads up.

    FYI: I tried deleting the Tumblr posts and resyncing with Crosspostr, but I got an error in Crosspostr.

    After deleting the original Tumblr blog and creating a new one + reinstalling Crosspostr in WordPress, I thought it would work but still the same error.

    Next I tried creating a new application in Tumblr, but I apparently have reached my “daily limit.” I think that might have something to do with the posts not syncing.

    I’ll try again tomorrow and let you know if it is fixed.

    Note: I was using the same Oauth application for each install

    After your post limit refreshes, the simplest thing to do to try it out is to create a new post in WordPress with the “Image” format, give it a featured image, and just try crossposting that one post. If that works, you can be pretty confident that multiple batches will work because both the single post and the batch post use the same code.

    Will do, and I’ll post here once I give it a try.

    ?? Thanks!

    Today I tried connecting to Tumblr via the Crosspostr settings, but the authentication box at Tumblr does not come up, so I cannot complete the connection process ??

    Just in case, I tried a test post but got an error message, “Tumblr Crossposter does not yet have a connection to Tumblr. Are you sure you connected Tumblr Crosspostr to your Tumblr account?”

    I’ve contacted Tumblr to see if there is something on their end that can be reset, but do you know of anything that may have caused the problem on the WordPress side?

    Might be related to this.

    After clearing all cookies, new posts are now syncing perfectly ??

    Old posts will not sync however, and return this error message:

    Crossposting to Tumblr failed. Remote service said:
    Response code: 401
    Response message: Not Authorized
    Debug output:
    object(stdClass)#340 (2) {

    string(14) “Not Authorized”
    }
    [“response”]=>

    }
    }

    So far I have tried unpublishing then republishing, adding text then “updating,” even reinstalling the plugin. I also tried making a duplicate post with the same name and slug as the original, then I deleted the original, emptied the trash and tried again. It did not work. But, new posts do (I’ve tested a couple new posts and they go through immediately).

    Maybe it’s something on Tumblr’s side?

    This is almost certainly because your old posts still have a Tumblr post ID associated with them, which is no longer valid. On an old post, try deleting the tumblr_post_id custom field, then cross-posting it anew. Tumblr Crosspostr will stop trying to “update” the old copy of the post on Tumblr (which Tumblr.com considers as being associated with a different OAuth credential, and thus tells Tumblr Crosspostr that it is not authorized to update that “other user’s” post), and instead Tumblr Crosspostr will just try sending the old post as a “new” post, (with the old timestamp, so it will still appear in your Tumblr archive at the correct date/time).

    See also: Response code 401.

    I tried deleting the tumblr_post_id and updating each post and….. it worked!

    Thanks again. I am sending a couple more drinks your way via your donate link. Cheers ??
