Trying to Upload A New Theme

  • Hello!

    I’m new to WordPress and just registered a free account at WordPress.com. I’m not wanting to pay for a domain or any additional servers yet, but just try the service out and play around with editing a few themes. I found a nice parallax scrolling theme online and downloaded it. I’ve been trying to figure out how to upload that theme as my main theme, but can not for the life of me figure it out. I signed in as admin, and went to “customize>theme” but there is no “add theme” or “upload theme” button.

    Here is a screenshot of what it looks like when I go through my admin page to the theme page.

    Any help is greatly appreciated.

  • I think this question is probably best for the WordPress.com support forums.

    This article explains the difference between .com vs .org: WordPress.com and www.remarpro.com

    If you are using WordPress.com you can’t upload a theme, you choose from one of the existing themes on the site.

    If you want your own theme, plugins etc, you need to install WordPress yourself – which is more what this site is for.

    You made the right choice picking WordPress by the way! It is life-changingly awesome.
