Trying to Understand Sitemap

    I’m trying to figure out what happened to my sitemap. I’ve been using XML Sitemaps for years and was always able to click the sitemap link above and see all the pages and dates for the updates.

    If I click the sitemap-misc.xml the browser shows a blank page. If I Click the page-sitemap.xml link it shows a 404 page.

    Same thing happens if I try to access the sitemap via Google Search Console.

    Any help appreciated.

    @joe-g, we’re VERY concerned about this ongoing issue. Evidently, this issue is happening in v4.1.17 also. We cannot duplicate in testing and need to understand the use case better.

    Would you please email support and allow us to investigate your site?

    We believe the latest release (v4.1.18) resolves this issue.

    Just confirming for those who have notifications for this support post that with the latest release 4.1.18 has fixed the 404 error I was experiencing.

    I’m using the new release 4.1.18. No 404 errors but, my sub-sitemaps are still empty if I click on the links.

    Yes, my apologies for not updating my post. I was reluctant to switch, whether temporary or not, as I’ve been using XML Sitemaps for 12 years or more. I’ve been switching back and forth between this and the other to be sure I have a working sitemap.

    I know you asked me to grant access to my site to investigate the issue I’m having which I appreciate it, but to be honest, I didn’t want to disable 2-step authentication and change passwords after if that’s what would be involved.

    You wouldn’t have to disable security features @joe-g.

    Based on feedback in other topics, I think you should feel confident testing the latest release (v4.1.18). If you choose to, please report back when you can. Thanks for using our plugin for all of those years.

    I reactivated the sitemap. As you can see the links open to empty pages.

    At least on my end, using both Chrome 122.0.6238.2 & Safari 17.2.1

    @joe-g using version 4.1.18? What are the errors in your error log?

    So this is were I have to give my usual disclaimer: I’m an upholster/amateur webmaster.

    I don’t see within the sitemap settings an error log. Where do I find the error log. Is it part of the debug function or somewhere else.

    The error log is available through your hosting control panel. You can give your host a call to direct you.

    Yes 4.1.18

    I’m using InMotion hosing and support in recent weeks/months has become horrible. I’m waiting for a reply from chat, email and phone. I’ve looked thru various error logs, but I’m not sure what I’m looking for. Nothing I could find had the words XML Sitemaps.

    My set up is BoldGrid as the website builder and the Crio Pro Theme. Both up to date.

    I’ll be back when I have more information from InMotion.
