    Hello,
I am pretty new to wordpress development and woocommerce so apologies if this is confusing. I am trying to test out my shop page. I have paypal checkout enabled as we want to only do paypal at the current moment. I enabled the paypal sandbox mode and created a new paypal account to use as my test account. I connected the test account to paypal and I was trying to purchase something on my site. I was able to log in to paypal using the customer sandbox account and after I pressed buy there was a loading animation that lasted for like 3 minutes and then an alert popped up with no text, and then I was still at the checkout screen. So there was no confirmation screen or anything. I then tried pressing buy again and the same thing happened. I checked my orders afterward and it seems that the first order went through, I received a processing order. The second order that I placed failed. The error message I received for the second order was Could not process order. Order status changed from Pending payment to Failed. As I said I am new to all this and it is possible that I did not set up my store correctly, I am wondering if anyone knows what the problem could possibly be. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

  • Hello,

I apologize, please note that support for PayPal Checkout will discontinue from 1 Mar 2022 and updates to the plugin have stopped as of 1 Sept 2021. We recommend switching to PayPal Payments.

I pressed buy there was a loading animation that lasted for like 3 minutes and then an alert popped up with no text, and then I was still at the checkout screen

Generally speaking, PayPal is a payment gateway that is able to show captchas for security reasons.

Can you please try again after clearing your browser cache? More info is below:
    https://wordpress.com/support/browser-issues/#clearing-your-browser-cache

If that does not work we recommend installing a plugin like PayPal Payments.

    I hope this provides clarity.

Thank you for the response! I have paypal payments activated. I tried it again in an incognito window, so chache should not be a problem as far as I know, and I got the same result. Could it be that I just haven’t set up a payment confirmation screen? I assumed that woocommerce would do that for me but as I said I am new to all this. Also when I look at my woocommerce settings at the top of the paypal settings menu it says paypal checkout, even though I don’t have paypal checkout downloaded. I don’t know if this means that woocommerce is trying to use paypal checkout or if the top of the menu always says that. Any other suggestions are greatly appreciated, thank you!

    Hi @molgannard,

    I have paypal payments activated

It sounds like this issue is directly related to the PayPal Payments plugin. So in this case, I would like to recommend contacting our plugin support team so that they can help you with this issue. Here is the link to the plugin’s dedicated support forum:
