• Hi guys,

I’m trying to optimize my site which was running about 8 seconds to load. Big part is due to having about 50 plugins. I do plan to get rid of some more and hopefully find some plugins that combine some features together. I’m also going to try and find my Thesis theme which I think should cut out some of the plugins as well.

My host has SuperCacher which I’ve got set up. I have W3 Total Cache. I also edited the .htaccess and added code for gzip. Used EWWW Image Optimizer plugin to reduce media library images as well as theme images. Then I installed Speed Booster Pack, however it seemed to go slower after that. Plus I noticed in their video tutorial that when they selected the same settings as me Google PageLoad dropped a lot of warnings that I’m still seeing.

I have noticed that Shortcodes Ultimate is hogging 1.8 seconds of load time so I think I’ll have to get rid of that.

Any thoughts? Oh and I also activated the free CloudFlare.

    Thanks heaps!

Well, first of all, never ever run more than one caching plugin. Pick either SuperCache or W3TC and stick with it. You should probably also consider using either CloudFlare without any caching plugin at all or not using CloudFlare.

Remember, a cache has to be generated, and the idea is that this singular generation of the cache costs your server less load than everyone else accessing the site. If you’re running SuperCache, W3TC, and CloudFlare, you are essentially generating the cache 3 times, and there is no way that costs less load on your server than everyone else accessing the site.
