Hi everyone. I’ve installed wordpress on my mac’s xampp. Everything looks fine and dandy and I can access the administrator’s area. However, when I try to upload a widget, this is what I get from wordpress.

    “Connection Information
To perform the requested action, WordPress needs to access your web server. Please enter your FTP credentials to proceed. If you do not remember your credentials, you should contact your web host.
    Hostname”

What is my FTP credentials if I’m running it locally? there’s none right?I’m so confused.

Would love some help! thanks in advance.

  • I think your webserver is not accessible from the outside world (the internet) .In this situation manually download and install the plugin files to your plugins directory & then you should be able to activate them from the WP control panel

Seeing this message means that WordPress files are not owned by the user that apache is running under.

    Try these default credentials

    hostname: localhost
    username: nobody
    password: xampp
