Trying to remove date stamp and blog references

I’m having a go at putting together a site with WordPress, that for the most part needs to look like a static site. Regular pages such as Home, About, Gallery etc.,

Am trying to figure out how to remove the date stamp at the top of the page – which you can see here – https://www.kidspartybags.biz/blog/ along with the blog references at the bottom of page “Posted in Uncategorized | Edit” plus the two little dots!

I’ve edited the “single.php” file to remove the code <?php the_time('d M Y'); ?> but that doesn’t seem to make any difference.

My php expertise is somewhat limited – so would very much appreciate if someone could advise on how to make the pages a blank canvas.
