• Hello,

I am trying to move a WP site that I created from my GoDaddy hosting account, over to a Network Solutions hosting account.

Network Solutions uses a folder called /htdocs as the root of the site, and GoDaddy does not do that.

I have already copied and uploaded all of the files to the new hosting account on Network Solutions, and placed them within the /htdocs folder. I also exported the database with 11 tables (wordpress standard I guess) and imported it into the new hosting / domain account with NSolutions, using PHP MyAdmin.

I also changed the config file to the new Database settings, which I set up on NSolutions.

But still when I go to the new domain, it says INTERNAL SERVER ERROR.

Would anyone have any idea what I may be doing wrong, and if I need to modify other settings in the Database or Config File?

    Thank you,

    Thank you

I have been reading “Moving WordPress” and using it as a guide.

But still having no luck on switching it to the new domain. I am desperate now, as it is for a client who I built the website for.

How do I check my permissions govpatel?

Any other suggestions / help would be greatly appreciated.

Also, do the files need to be in a folder called WordPress? with the index.php outside of the WordPress folder or inside of the folder?

Obviously I am new to this and I apologize, but doing the best I can to try and upload this site to the new domain.

it all depends on how you have your wordpress installed you should not have problem with file structure when you moving wordpress as it was all working on old host.

If you uploaded wordpress files and folders from Go daddy html folder as that is root to your new server which has htdocs as root you should have any problems.

You need to do is change urls only if you changed domain names

As for permissions you can check them using ftp or log in on server folders are normally 755 and files 644

    I did change domain names.

So could that be causing the problem?

Where can I modify settings for the new domain name?

Did you change the name servers to point to new server and change your urls in Settings General

NO I did not do those things. Perhaps that is where it all went wrong.

I have started over with a clean install of WP on Network Solutions, and I’m just going to create it all again… and plug in the info from all of the pages.

I’m basically starting over but using my old info. I was just getting really frustrated and I felt like I had no other options, since I am doing this for a client who wants it ASAP… of course, like some do.

But I just need to learn the ins and outs of WP better, so I understand it conceptually… I’m somewhat lost at this point… but it’ll be okay. Thank you for the help and tips.

Hopefully my clean start works out well. I really appreciate it.
