Trying to install wordpress – slow loading and error in picture uploading

Hi,

I have successfully installed wordpress on my own personal domain https://www.marklund.no

I am now trying to do the same thing for the company I work for. Just to test it before we decided to go for it I installed it here: https://www.mergermanagement.net/test (when good to go it is supposed to be located at mergermanagement.net)

I am now experiencing two problems:

1) Our main problem is that the page itself and admin pages are loading incredible slow (does so in basic themes and there’s no plugins installed – this is right after installation). It is actually pretty much useless because of this, which is sad (and annoying as wordpress works so damn good on my personal web page). I have talked to our (Merger Management) web host (it’s a Danish one called dothost: https://www.dothost.dk) and they are saying that there’s no reason why it shouldn’t work. At least they claim to not be the one causing the slow loading.

2) When finally in the admin area and trying to post pictures it doesn’t upload to wp-content/uploads (they are being uploaded to wp-content) even though they link to the “uploads” folder.

I have searched around on this forum and found similar problems, but have been unable to solve this.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.
