  • That is the right css file since you’re using the default theme. What are you trying to change?

    Make sure you are clearing your cache?

    Hi,

    This is so strange, I cleared out my cache and that didnt fix it. Now I am on a completely separate machine and still dont see any changes. Here are the tags I changed.

    Surely I should see SOME kindof color change on my page, right?

    #page {
    background-color: #FFFF33;
    border: 1px solid #959596;
    text-align: left;
    }

    #header {
    background-color: #FF6600;
    }

    .alt {
    background-color: #33CC33;
    border-top: 1px solid #33CC33;
    border-bottom: 1px solid #33CC33;
    }

    Please help….?

    Nothing strange… you can edit that stylesheet till the end of the times – nothing will happen. Your backgrounds are images:

    And just for the record: in another thread of yours you were warned about it

    o, i feel silly. ok. i am new to editing these templates and i’m having a really hard time with it for some reason.

    thanks for clarifying. i’ll remember this time ??

    now i just have to figure out how to code a background image in css.

    one more query tho, why wouldnt my alt link text show up on my page? that bit still doesnt make sense.

    and i’m having a really hard time with it for some reason.

    As you were told: with this theme you’ll have a lot of “hard time”…
    Good luck!

    whats an easier theme? maybe i should start there….?

    https://themes.wordpress.net – there are a lot

    thank you, yes, i know there are many themes and choices, but what is an easy theme to start with to code, since kubrick seems impossible?

    i’d like to start with an easy one.
    is there a wordpress page that lists the difficulty of editing each theme/template, so people know what they are getting themselves into?

    Well, K. is not “impossible” – it’s just challenging for new users ??
    (and because we have to answer the same questions hundreds of times… like yours about the background colour, it is quite unpopular among the helpers!)

    No, there no list “by difficulty”.
    A very simple theme is the Classic that comes in the package. Just to understand the basics. Of course, its disadvantage is the lack of template files…

    i think i’m still going to give kubrick a go for a bit longer, it looks so nice in the final presentation.

    and if i am totally pulling my hair out, i’ll try the classic.

    thanks for your help =)

    ps> moshu I checked out your blog, very nice work.

    Thank you ?? Actually, that’s a highly customized version of the basic Vesuvius. Vesuvius can be downloaded from my dev blog: https://www.transycan.net/blogtest/
    (or just compare the two looks ??

    Okay, this is NOT going to be a popular point of view with all these amazing coding experts – but go into the ‘images’ file in the Kubrick theme. If you know even a little bit about graphics you can adjust the look of the blog a little or completely re-work it without touching any code unless you want to change the fonts.

    And just for fun, once you get a feel for how the images go together you can go back to look through all the themes and you’ll be able to pick out the ones that are based on Kubrick. There are some very attractive Kubrick based themes.

    Before y’all jump on me, yes, I get the fact that sites based mostly on code are better and faster. And I have huge respect (not to mention jealousy) for all of you that can visualize what that gibberish is going to look like when you put it all together.
