Trying to create CMS home page

Hi all,

I’m trying to create an index.php page where 4 posts will be displayed with an optional image next to the post.

Example:

POST 1 – basketballs
[uploaded photo of basketball] post summary
POST 2
summary [plated photo on right
POST 3
summary [no photo]
POST 4
[related photo on left] summary

Does anyone know of any plugins that can do this sort of thing. If the plugin does not exist, what is the best way to tackle this? Non technical users will be posting the articles/photos, so the easier it is to manage the better!
