I have set up my ‘Foodie’ website using the Nutmeg theme, and it has been very good, so far.

My only real problem is that I would like to set up the home page as it currently is, but with some welcoming text above the ‘Newest Recipes”. But, since the home page is set up through your customizer as ‘Your latest posts’, it is highly resistant to adding text above that heading.

So, I thought about creating a normal static home page, with text followed by the list of ‘Newest Recipes’. In other words, exactly as it is now, with text above the ‘Newest Recipes’. I tried using various blocks in the WordPress block editor to set up the ‘Newest Recipes’, but I could not get any of them to display the same as on my current home page — same size photo, same text below the photo, title, and button, in an array of three columns. What I came up with looked primitive compared with the current home page, and I could not figure out how to do 3 columns.

Any help/suggestions you could provide to solve this problem would be much appreciated.

    Thanks!

    Bryan

    Hello,

I think that it is possible that you did not watch the video tutorial for the theme, which is why this question was posted.

Even the theme’s demo has recipe categories, a welcome message and the posts on the homepage.

If you want a static page as your homepage, don’t forget to select the Homepage + Posts custom page template. Then you will have your page content AND the posts.

    Best regards,
    Dumitru B.

Thank you for your prompt and very helpful response.

I actually had viewed the video tutorial for the theme, but missed the section about setting up the home page with the template “Homepage + Posts”. It was quick!

Clearly, I need to explore Nutmeg’s capabilities more, but incrementally.

I now have my homepage looking the way I wanted. I even used a couple of your suggested block patterns from the Nutmeg theme.
