This setting ensures that the product only imports into the child category defined in the import – i.e. if you imported it into Hair Care > Shampoo, it would only go into Shampoo.

This wouldn’t be an issue as you’re defining the entire hierarchy – WP All Import will know that hair care in Hair Care > Shampoo and Supplements > Hair Care are different categories.

Hi – thanks for the quick response, and apologies for taking so long to get back. Thanks to your reply I got it working the way I wanted.

Just a further clarification, “Try to match terms to existing child Product Categories” tries to match based on the name of the category? ie not the slug? The reason I ask is because I’m trying to understand the behaviour if I choose “Each Post Has Multiple Categories.”

It tries to match by either. If the name isn’t found, then it searches for the slug. You can even define only the slug if you’d like.

As an example, if you put “Hair Care” as the category, WP All Import searches for the name “Hair Care”, if it’s not found then it searches for the slug “hair-care”.
