• Hi all,

Please help! I have a wordpress site with a local host. I go to the login wp-admin and try to login. 3 days ago this worked fine. Now it sends me to 404 page not found. I have not changed anything in the last few days. Also I’m traveling in Eastern Europe (for a month) so I’m concerned about making major fixes. Any help would be appreciated! I know that sometimes people say to upgrade your wordpress version, but without being able to login and using hotel computers I’m not sure how I can manage that…

    Thanks!!!

  • You can only connect to a ‘localhost’ install from inside the same LAN as the server. Are you connecting from a different physical location than you were three days ago?

Three days ago was my hotel in Prague. My sisters phone worked fine too. Today a hotel in Budapest and her phone both arent working. The site was originally set up on my computer but we have both often edited with phones, ipads, and pther computers… Thanks for any help anyone can provide!

Yes, but are they all on the same LAN? Does your server go with you as you travel? Does it stay at home? Does it have a static IP?

Moving around like you are can cause a lot of trouble. You haven’t given enough information yet.

i am having the same problem when i try to log in.. It says “page not found” on my site when i try to login to wordpress.. What do I do I need to post some very important stuff to my bosses site.

@jeffrock94, chances are it is not the same problem. Are you trying to login to a “localhost” server from a Hotel in Budapest? And were you able to login from a hotel in Prague three days ago?

Please start your own topic, and start it with 100 times more detail than is in your post above.

Person who mentioned Budapest IS person who started this site. I thought i would be able to upload new posts from /wp-admin on different computers/devices but apparently thats where my problem may have arisen.

I am not a computer person. This is a personal site. I dont know what other info to give and I dont know any lingo. I thought this might be a helpful place but so far it has been pretty harsh. Please be kind in the replies. I was sad when I couldnt upload a new post and hearing how ignorant I admittedly am hasnt made me feel better!

    Please post a url.

Sure thing. The url is mysistersbookshelf.com. Thanks!

??? But I was talking to jeffrock94, who isn’t the person who started this thread ???

@mc25, I don’t think anyone has been harsh to you. It is frustrating that you tend not to answer the questions that are asked, though. For example, here are four questions which you finally answered by accident when you replied to kmessinger.

Anyway, you aren’t talking about a ‘local host’ site as you introduced the problem. It is public. That changes everything. Most of our discussion doesn’t matter anymore.

It now seems more likely to be a connection error or a DNS resolution error, which are going to be hard to correct, since you are connecting over hotel networks. I don’t have any trouble connecting to your site. You may just be getting network timeouts.

Your theme is a premium theme and as such is supported by the developer here https://themify.me/forum/forum.php?id=29

    You can also try
    – deactivating all plugins (yes, all) to see if this resolves the problem. If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s). You can do this by resetting the plugins folder by FTP or PhpMyAdmin. Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems. Just name it pluginsold.

    – switching to the Twenty Eleven theme to rule out any theme-specific problems. You can also do this by ftp or PhpMyAdmin
https://hs8.name.com:2083/ and rename your theme. That will cause wp to open with the default theme.
