Try to get only the category name

Hello!

I’m trying to get only the category variable from a post. Currently it using the get_the_category_list(‘ ‘) function. But the output is far more then only ‘video’ or ‘new products’ He gives me the whole taglist…

Is there any function that gives me only the name of the tag?

p.s. I need is for https://jerrydewit.nl. There is above every post a category button. I need only the string ‘video’. I need it tho use it somewhere else.
