when I try to upload pictures on my freshly installed WordPress I keep getting this message: “Unable to create directory wp-content/uploads. Is its parent directory writable by the server?”
I have been using wordpress for 4 years and never got that problem.

Kann someone please help me solve this problem?

    Hi there,

Its occurring due to the file permission of the upload directory.

Make sure the upload directory i.e uploads folder and its sub folder have the file permission of 755.

    Thanks.

Thank you for your help regan!

I did apply the permission of 755 to the entire directories, after deleting all the files from server and load them up again, but still can’t upload media files.
I created the “uploads” directory per FTP, but now I get the message “The uploaded file could not be moved to wp-content/uploads.”

    What else should I do?

    THank you for another hint!

Ok I found the solution on another forum. In case it can help someone else: I gave the permission 777 to the “uploads” folder that I created, and it works!
