Troubleshooting Errors or Print Failures
-
The Plugin is developed to support as many printer models as possible, but we don’t officially provide a guarantee the Print Plugin will be supported by all models. At this time, we don’t provide a printer compatibility list.
Often the (print errors, PDF conversion errors and print failures to Google Cloud Print) are due to the Printer settings not being configured correctly for the printer model you are using.
Here are a few tips to try and get the configuration correct, since the plugin supports multiple types of printer models, the settings are very flexible. We’d recommend you try different settings and configurations to see if you can get the print-out working properly for your thermal printer.
Important: Each time you make a settings change, perform a test order print to verify how it prints out. Each settings change will result in a different print job outcome.
Tip #1: Page Orientation: A blank print-out or horizontal print-out or vertical print-out could be caused by the Page Orientation setting. If you are using Auto, please try the other settings of Landscape or Portrait.
Tip #2: Enable Custom Margins, select either a value of 0 or 1. Defining the margins allow the print text to position properly on the print-out.
Tip #3: If you are using a Thermal Printer, we recommend you use the Layout Size Custom. Each printer will require different Custom Width and Custom Height. We’d recommend trying different values 75 and 40 to start, if this doesn’t print properly, test other values. You can also test a Custom width as 0. The printer might require automatic width. If this doesn’t work, define the Custom width and leave the Custom Height at 0. Some thermal printers might require the automatic option for width and Continuous feed for Custom Height.
Tip #4: Output Format, if you selected HTML, try the basic Plain Text format. The Plain Text version will only print the text, and not HTML styling. Depending on the print driver, the HTML styling might be causing the error.
In general, please try different configurations. We are confident with the correct printer settings configured your printer model should work for you using our Print Plugin.
