• Everything was great until I had to create the DB. My host is GEMSTREAM and nothing they have looks anything like the MySQL and phpMYADMIN in the instructions.

    I never had a screen that aloud me to grant privlages. It seemed like all i could do was the basic of basic things so I did. I created a DB named wordpress. I created a user named blog and gave it a password. The host name is localhost. This is my wp-config.php code:

    <?php
    // ** MySQL settings ** //
    define(‘DB_NAME’, ‘wordpress’); // The name of the database
    define(‘DB_USER’, ‘blog’); // Your MySQL username
    define(‘DB_PASSWORD’, ‘123456’); // …and password
    define(‘DB_HOST’, ‘localhost’); // 99% chance you won’t need to change this value

    // You can have multiple installations in one database if you give each a unique prefix
    $table_prefix = ‘wp_’; // Only numbers, letters, and underscores please!

    // Change this to localize WordPress. A corresponding MO file for the
    // chosen language must be installed to wp-includes/languages.
    // For example, install de.mo to wp-includes/languages and set WPLANG to ‘de’
    // to enable German language support.
    define (‘WPLANG’, ”);

    /* That’s all, stop editing! Happy blogging. */

    define(‘ABSPATH’, dirname(__FILE__).’/’);
    require_once(ABSPATH.’wp-settings.php’);
    ?>

    When I try to install it I get the Error Establishing DB Connection.

    Can anyone get me started in the right direction?

    thanks:

  • You need to contact Gemstream. I looked at their site, and don’t see mysql mentioned. You may want to get your money back and find a host that specifically offers mysql databases.

    Thats what I thought. I am getting out of GEMSTREAM. They are not good with support either.
