Trouble with product category permalinks 404 htaccess

Hello,
I have an issue with permalinks that I cannot figure out. WP4.3 and WooCommerce 2.4.6
If I directly enter a product category URL into the browser I will get a 404. HOWEVER, if I click the same link on the site it will go to the correct category.
Permalink structure:
WP
Post name
Woo
I’m using the default Product category base product-category and Product tag base product-tag and Shop base with category.When I enter this URL (replaced with site links) https://mysite.com/product-category/category/product-subcategory/ directly into the browser and generates a 404 and looks like this:
https://mysite.com/product-cat%E2%80%8Begory/category/product%E2%80%8subcategory/
When I click the same product category URL on the website it is correct and looks like this with no 404:
https://mysite.com/product-category/product-subcategory/product/
I’ve resaved the permalinks and even had WP generate a new .htaccess and still have the same problem.
Any help is appreciated.
