Trouble with permissions on media uploader

    Hello!

    I am having trouble with the media uploader. If I set the permissions on the upload folder to 777, I can upload without a problem, but if the permissions are at 755, I can create a record of the item in the media library but I have to SFTP the file into the folder. Also, somewhat strangely, when I set the permission on the folder to 777 so that the uploader works, the file appears in the upload directory with permissions set to 666 instead of 644. I can only re-set the permission using root privileges. I’m not sure what’s going on–can someone help, please?

    Solved my own problem–I chowned the directory containing my website to the Apache user. I’m not totally sure about the security of this, though!
