Trouble with mail-tags

I have a contact 7 form here:

That when I try to submit I receive the following error:
“Failed to send your message. Please try later or contact the administrator by another method.”

Now the form has a syntax error in the “to:” field on the auto response BUT even when I disable the auto response I still receive the same error while trying to submit.

ALSO

I checked my syntax with the knowledge base from Contact Form 7 and it seems to be correct. I am hoping I do not have to update to the latest wordpress because this is an eCommerce site and I have had bad experiences with updating wordpress on eCommerce sites.
