Trouble with Logging In

Basically, I had a friend of mine helping make me my site. Unfortunately, he recently passed away and though I can log into my website’s control panel because we both knew its password, I cannot log into the wordpress portal through which he had been using to build the site because he had never gotten that info to me. I want to still use wordpress for the building of the site, but I don’t know how to go about getting into it or any other alternatives to just re-starting with a new account since one is already attached to my site.
