Trouble with formatting

If you need to post content created in Word, select the button labeled “Paste From Word” in the editor toolbar ( you will need to select the “kitchen sink” button in the tool bar to expose all the options first ) while posting, then paste your content in the pop-up box. Try that and see if it helps with the formatting issues at all.

What are the other possible causes?

I think it may be the theme. I changed to a default WP theme and did the same thing here and it displays fine.

Spacing issues can appear different from theme to theme. The style sheet of each theme determines how the layout looks. If you go to the first site you linked to and add this to the bottom of the style sheet,

.entry p {margin-bottom:15px;}

You can see the difference right away after you refresh the page in your browser.
