Hi there – My client stopped getting notifications from her WordPress site when she switched her domain email to iCloud. I checked the iCloud settings and confirmed those with Apple support:
    smtp.mail.me.com
    TLS (also tried SSL)
    587
    Authentication ON
    (client’s email address and password)

However, upon trying a test email, we get that “there was a problem sending your email”:
An issue was detected. This means your test email was unable to be sent.

Typically this error is returned for one of the following reasons:

    • Plugin settings are incorrect (wrong SMTP settings, invalid Mailer configuration, etc).
    • Your web server is blocking the connection.
    • Your host is rejecting the connection.

Email is not our speciality here and typically we have no issues with your plugin when we’ve set it up with other email providers like Gsuite or Office365. We asked the web host if anything was blocking on their end and they said no. We’re really unsure what to do at this point and would appreciate any suggestions to help get this working.

    Hi there @jvmd,

You may need to use an App Password. A lot of services use those now in place of the login password Check out this page on the iCloud website. It discusses creating an App Password:

I hope that helps! Have a great day! ??

Thanks, David! We’ll check that out. We noticed on the error log it has “server is unable to authenticate” for the email address so this might be the case. Have a great day ??

    HI David:

I have the same problem. But I’m using the App password, I can easily login to the icloud, But in the plugin I received “server is unable to authenticate”. Could you please advise.
