• greetings,

i have migrated my site from one hosting package to another, both on godaddy.
    \from the old, i
    – used wordPress export tool to export all
    – exported in phpMyAdmin the both databases (wordPress and information_schema)
    – used FTP to download and upload to new, all my wp-uploads.

i have successfully configured my domain to be pointing to my new hosting, as well as installed wordPress on my new hosting.

so, my problem is resolving the database name and credentials. GoDaddy created and named my db for me – which i expected wordPress to ask me about at install. so i run the import tool and it fails to import everything. i assume it is because it is looking for the OLD db name. what do i do to resolve this?

i have tried, in phpMyAdmin, copying and pasting just the tables’ SQL from my old db to the new, and i get SQL errors, and it is quite clunky to even attempt.

do i need to reinstall wordpress, this time making sure i have control over the new db name, and make it the same as the old? if not, any advice is greatly appreciated!

    thank you,
    ben
