• I just installed WP and things work fine, except when i try to attach a photo to a post to upload i get the following error:

I am working on setting up a blog on my site using wordpress https://w1.eleven2.com/~napoleon/wordpress1/

and as i finish an entry and try to attach a photo to my entry, i get the following error:

Unable to create directory /home/napoleon/public_html/wordpress1/wp-content/uploads/2006/10. Is its parent directory writable by the server?

Do i need to do something to my folder on your server to be able to attach a photo to my posts? or is it my settings on wp?

  • looks like your server is unable to write to your uploads folder. Mine is set to writable by owner. You can set permissions for that folder via an ftp client or your host probably has this feature via your control panel.

Some servers are going to require that folder be set 777. It would be nice if 666 would work, but doesn’t seem to a lot of places.
