Trouble optimizing images, can’t figure this out.

  • Hello, I’ve been trying to improve my site’s loading speed. I started on another support forum but haven’t had any luck after a kind gentlemen gave me every bit of advice for getting my images to not appear as unoptimized on page speed tools.

    The images I’m having trouble optimizing only are the Blog posts featured images, and the “Our Focus” section.

    I’ve tried different image opp plugins, different sizes, different settings, almost everything I can think of. I’m really lost at this point. I’ve tried so many different things to fix this I don’t even know where to begin.
    I used a site called ShortPixel to take my original images and compress them, and only one of them didn’t appear on page speed tools. I noticed the one that didn’t appear was the only one below 50KB after compressing.
    I’m so bothered I’ve not been able to figure this out, Is there anyone who’s had trouble with the featured images and our focus images not optimizing?

    I did check your blog page with Google PageSpeed Insights

    and here’s what I found:
    1) you have images that are way bigger than their placeholder so what you need to to besides optimizing the image is also to scale it appropriately, please see this link

    2) also your thumbs do not seem to be optimized. Please note that even if you do optimize the main image with a service like this the resulting thumbs will still be unoptimized. I recommend you using an image optimization plugin

    I see, I deleted EWW image optimizer and tried out shortpixel.

    I looked at what the size the images are being displayed at through the developer.
    Shows them being displayed at 300×225.
    So I re-saved the photoshop image with the exact same dimensions 300×225. Uploaded it, ran shortpixel and still shows up on Page speed tools under not being fully optimized.

    All the other ones I was having trouble with I got off the list by using shitty quality, the compression thing from your site.

    So I don’t know what I could possibly be doing wrong…
