• Hi,
I am currently working on a site for a client. With newer browsers I am not able to login into the admin side of the site. Meaning, I type the username and password correctly, click login, and it redirects me back to the login page without logging me in. It does not give me an error of any sort. If I try to login with a bad password, it does give me the wrong username/password error. I am able to login with an older version of Firefox.

I have never run into this before, anyone have suggestions. Thanks!

  • Try:
    – switching to the Twenty Twelve theme by renaming your current theme’s folder inside wp-content/themes and adding “-old” to the end of the folder name using FTP or whatever file management application your host provides.

resetting the plugins folder by FTP or phpMyAdmin.

I tried both, and neither worked.

-I completely deleted all plugin files to see if plugins were interfering. Tried logging and it that didn’t help.

-I replaced the twenty twelve files with a freshly downloaded version of twenty twelve, switched the theme to the new twentytwelve files, and login failed.

I think I might of narrowed it down to maybe a browser setting issue?

    Can’t login with firefox 17.0.1
Can’t login in with safari 6.0.2
    CAN login with firefox 16
    CAN login with safari 5
    CAN login with Chrome

    The website is communitystorehouse.org

Sounds like this is a browser issue – not a WordPress one. Try emptying the cache and deleting all cookies in the affected browsers.

Unfortunately, that was the first thing I tried, and it doesn’t work. I contacted the people that were working on it before me and they said they had the same issue and were never able to figure it out.

    Have you tried:

    – deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem. If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

    – switching to the Twenty Twelve theme to rule out any theme-specific problems.

resetting the plugins folder by FTP or PhpMyAdmin. Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.

I have already done all of the above.

    Site url?

I found out I can login in through any browser using /login instead of wp-admin. Thanks for your help!
