Trouble loading WP knowledge base

I installed a fresh copy of WP. Trying to get the WP knowledge base plugin working but doesn’t want to load. I have setup a page with the code [kbe_knowledgebase] but still loads a main page from a template. I’m not too sure what I’m missing here? Any help would be appreciated.

Do I make these changes in the settings – permalinks? Choose custom structure?

Go to Settings > Permalinks > and check the radio button that says “Post name” > Save settingsTo get your KB as front page:
1.) First get the KB working on the page you want. Once it’s working…
2.) Go to Settings > Reading > and assign the front page:
