Trouble Installing WP as a Local SIte

  • Forgive my newb-ness: I’m experimenting with developing a site locally so I did this on my Mac running OS 10.7.5
    –installed xampp
    –installed the wordpress 4.1 module through Bitnami
    –went through the installation and set up.
    –It has created a basic home page for me for this site.
    –but I can’t seem to log into the dashboard to start building the site.

    I get to the login page and enter my username and passwords and it jiggles and rejects them. I tried using the lost password, but the system balked when I gave it my email address to send to. It get this message:

    Any thoughts on what I’m doing wrong?
