My blog is up and running @ 987mb.com web host. The trouble is that I can’t seem to install any widgets.

    Here is what happens:
I install some widgets, and place it on the left and right sidebars.
I then tinker around my site.
    I login to my Dashboard.
It says on the dashboard “You are using so and so number of widgets”.
    I visit the site.
I then return to my dashboard.
POOF. It now says, “You are using 0 widgets.” ???? Where are they gone???

And then I return to my site. On the left AND right sidebar, it shows me the widgets that the theme came with. (i.e. it displays the theme’s default widgets). NOT the ones I installed.
    ????
    What went wrong?

Hi, Well. Frankly speaking I had 2 issues.
    1. When I log in to my blog, and go to my dashboard, my dashboard turns out to be a blank page. It never loads.

To resolve this issue, I looked up for a solution on google. When I searched for “dashboard is a blank page in wordpress 2.5.1” in google, it led me to this link via a post in this same forum. [link: https://whiffer.net/2008/04/11/wp-25-blank-admin-page-fix/]

The author of the article on the resulting page suggested to comment out “wp_dashboard_setup();” line in index.php in the folder “wp-admin”.

I did it and it worked like a charm. Problem is that you loose functionality. The dashboard doesn’t show any info on “recent comments”, “incoming links”, “plugins” in use, etc.

But it also caused another problem. Me not being able to install widgets in my sidebar. Now, I un-commented the “wp_dashboard_setup();” line.
    What happened?
    A. My dashboard appears with full functionality, rather than a blank page (!?).
    B. I can now save my changes to my sidebars ??

    I don’t know why “wp_dashboard_setup();” was the culprit. ??
Can anyone help me figure out.
