I’m attempting to install the iMasters WP FAQ into the latest WP version, and can’t get it to work.

These are the instructions: To show the FAQ’s insert the following code in the content of the page or post desired separated by category: [imasters-wp-faq cat=”1″]

I’ve dropped the code into a post and page and entered a sample FAQ in to the Manager FAQs and I can’t get it to show up anywhere.

I created a category for FAQ and dropped in a post with the code, didn’t work.

So I created a page for FAQ and dropped in the code and a post with the code, still doesn’t show up.

    HELP? anyone.

  • Works okay for me with the instructions you followed, but I had to disable the Front End Editor plugin. I put the shortcode in a post.

You might try changing the Setting “Insert JavaScript to collapse answers?” though either setting worked for me.

If all else fails try another FAQ plugin EasyFaq worked for me also.

Still can’t get this thing to show up anywhere. Don’t have the Front End Editor plugin, so that’s not it. Are there any other modules that it might not work with?

I tried the shortcode in a post and a page, neither worked. I put it in the body of the page/post at the end, is that right?

I created an FAQ page to see if it would show up there, but it didn’t.

Where should I see this module if it was working?

It would be visible in the post or page.

    Try deactivating other plugins.

I deactivated everything I could and put the code like this [imasters-wp-faq cat=”1″] into the bottom of the body of the post in the manage categories section of the Imasters plugin.

Does that sound right, because I still don’t see it?

No, you would write a post via Posts->Add new or a page via Pages->Add new and put that shortcode in the actual body of the post/page.

That confused me because I think it is what I did.

In both instances, I put the short code (with the square brackets) into the boty of the post or page and I still don’t see the FAQ showing up.

Can you forward me to a site where it’s working so I can see?

Nope, have it working on my local PC, and already deactivated and deleted what I originally setup. Maybe the plugin author will see this thread and respond.

Oops, how about a screenshot of a post with a FAQ using the WordPress Default Theme.

Yeah, ok I have seen this at one point, so it was working – but isn’t now. I’m stumped. I’ll go back and turn off all my plugins except it and see what happens.

I am still confused as to whether this shows up as a post of a page?

Docs say it works in a post or a page.

Yeah, I know. But no luck – I appreciate you helping.

I just turned off EVERY plugin I have and it still doesn’t appear anywhere.

Just as a sidenote, with all my plugins turned off, I now get this Leave a Reply box on each page (below). Where is that coming? And where do these emails get stored?

Thanks for all of your help Michael. Just wanted you to know that I deleted iMasters and EasyFAQ; couldn’t get either to work.

I did find a plugin that works easily and fairly automatically – FAQ-Tastic
