Hi, I’m trying to import a product with multiple variations (colours and sizes).
I started entering in manually then exported to get the fields correct.
I then completed the .csv with all the other variations, and imported it back in.
When the import was complete, the attributes are there, ad the boxes are ticked to use them for variations, but the variations are not there.

I clicked Import Products, left the “update existing products” box unticked, and chose my CSV file and clicked Continue. The fields all map correctly because I used a Woocommerce export, so I then click Run Importer. Why isn’t it working?

My CSV file is here https://1drv.ms/u/s!AveIm_4CPtqYhsYfaJ3URJ1khfrMSA?e=S9kBLs

    Any help appreciated, thank you.

    Hi @tradin ,

    Thanks for reaching out!

Please could you clarify if you are using the core WooCommerce CSV import function at Products > All Products > Import

If so, please could you ensure that you are following each step correctly, as seen in the guide below:

    https://woocommerce.com/document/product-csv-importer-exporter/

    Please do let me know.

    Thanks!

    Hi Roxanne,
Yes I am using the core WooCommerce CSV import function, and I followed those instructions carefully.
Once I finish the second import of the variations, it says 80 products imported (that’s how many variations there are in this one product) but they’re not there. Only the parent is visible.

    Hi @tradin ,

    Thanks for the update.

I am able to see that your CSV is missing IDs, as seen in the screenshot below:

    https://snipboard.io/iLZ35D.jpg

The IDs are required when importing a CSV and is therefore recommended to export your product’s CSV file from your site in order to get the specific product IDs. Please could you do this to ensure all ID’s are captured.

I clicked Import Products, left the “update existing products” box unticked, and chose my CSV file and clicked Continue

Please also tick the update existing products box prior to continuing with the import.

Additionally, if possible, avoid Microsoft Excel due to formatting and character encoding issues.

Please check this and let me know the outcome!

    Hi Roxanne,
I originally filled in the ID’s, I just used the next sequential number but it didn’t work. So I took them out thinking it might be confusing things.
I’m not sure how exporting helps? These variations aren’t on the site yet so I can’t export them?
Am I correct in just choosing the next sequential number?

I just added them back in, and ticked the update existing products box, using the .csv (not excel) but still the same problem.

I think I fixed it. I changed it from draft to published and it seems to have FINALLY worked. For some reason it didn’t like it being in draft mode?

    Hi @tradin ,

    Glad the issue was resolved!

For some reason it didn’t like it being in draft mode?

The imports don’t automatically change from published to drafts however, if they were set to post_status draft then that would make sense. Please see the links below regarding this:

Please feel free to mark this topic as resolved in the sidebar if you no longer require help with this ??

    Thanks!
