• I have trouble getting access to my website admin …../wp-admin. The site has been passive for a number of years, but now it is time to go back and continue the development. The problem is that when I use my old (not operative anymore) email I don’t get the new password as it is sent to the old mail….

  • Hey @steineriks,
If you don’t have access to the old email id then you can reset the password from the database itself.

Check out the below link regarding the same:

    Thanks.
I found out about the username and password through the database itself. I think the problem may be a little bit larger.

I haven’t upgraded for some years and it seems that some changes has to be done from the admin panel inside wordpress (I my be wrong). I have (today) upgraded to php 7.2 (which already is outdated) on recommendation from the web hotel. That should enable access to the admin panel where I need to upgrade plugins etc. After that I need to upgrade to php 7.4 (or may I just go directly to 7.4?).

I have forgotten most of my previous skills in WP and that is quite a hustle when I need to get back …

    Hey @steineriks,
First of all, you should take a backup of your entire website, database, and all dependencies.

After that, you can try updating the PHP directly to the latest version.
Once you have access to your admin panel, update your WordPress version along with all the dependencies of the website (themes, plugins, etc..).
