Trouble customizing the date

I have the following code for my post date:
<h2 class=”date-header”><?php the_time(“l, j de F de Y”) ?></h2>

But on my blog, it comes out like this:
Segunda, 21 21e Mar?§o 21e 2005

Why the “de” on the code is turning out like “21e”?
