• Hi.

I’m trying to add a theme to my blog and i’m getting two error messages:

    1. Warning: touch() [function.touch]: Unable to create file C:\Inetpub\vhosts\postbarblues.com\httpdocs/wp-content/titan.tmp because Permission denied in C:\Inetpub\vhosts\postbarblues.com\httpdocs\wp-admin\includes\file.php on line 177

    2. Warning: unlink(C:\Inetpub\vhosts\postbarblues.com\httpdocs/wp-content/titan.tmp) [function.unlink]: No such file or directory in C:\Inetpub\vhosts\postbarblues.com\httpdocs\wp-admin\includes\file.php on line 489

    Help?

    Thanks!

  • I’m assuming you’re using a Windows server; those paths are using the wrong slashes towards the end (windows uses backslashes “\” and unix/linux uses normal slashes “/”). It looks like part of a path used somewhere in that theme is hard-coded to use normal slashes. You would have to change the theme at those locations or get the author to do the same in order to make it compatible with windows.

In which file do I need to make those changes?

I assumed you were getting this message after installing the theme which, after rereading your original post, was probably wrong. Are you using the built-in theme install page? I’m sure the problem is exactly as I described, but if it’s popping up when you try to install a theme from within WordPress, then it’s probably not specific to the theme. Can you install any other theme or plugin? If it’s a more general WordPress problem you could try installing the theme manually. Use FTP and upload the theme’s directory to your wp-content\themes directory, then activate it.

Honestly, WordPress and Windows servers have never completely played nicely. Since most people have linux/unix servers (especially when it comes to WordPress) you might have trouble finding tons of help with Windows specific problems.
