• Hi!

I’ve had a blog up for a while to serve as a type of trip journal / trip log of my various fishing / hiking / trailwork trips. For my redesign, I wanted an original from-the-ground-up theme, along with better integration of my photos. I’ve got the beta version up. The photo section slows it down a bit (has to parse an xml feed from SmugMug), but other than the speed I really like the website. But tell me what you think! Honestly!

    Thanks,

    Josh

  • I’m a total lurker here but always read for tips/ideas. Love the “earthy” colors of your site. Very clean, looks great (from a fellow travel buff)

    All the best

I think it’s really well done – something a bit different from a ‘Kubrick’ mod.

There’s something broken in Safari (I think), hovering over the middle recent posts column causes a small red square to appear on the far left hand side which follows the mouse. Depending on the percentage of your readers who use Safari, you may want to change it (or not).

Joannie – I noticed the thing on the left side. It is actually an AJAX hack – displays the excerpt and picture from the post in a popup textbox. The problem is that Safari won’t resize the textbox. I’ll put a css min-width and min-height on it, and it should solve the safari problem, although it still may look a bit off.

I like the way it forces me to scroll on a narrow screen–but not much.
