Tried with Shared SSL – 404 Error

Hi guys,
I have my site on a host that uses shared ssl. I’d like to be able to log into the admin area using SSL, so I tried this plugin. Let’s say my site is:
and my admin area (via ssl is):
https://111.111.111.111/~matt/mysite/wp-admin
Once I have installed this plugin, when I attempt to log in to the secure URL (mentioned above) the browser redirects to the following URL and gets a 404:
… any ideas? when I try to log in via SSL, it seems to just redirect me back to the original URL (www.mysite.com.au), but it uses HTTPS, which of course is not valid at that URL since I am using a shared certificate!
Anyone got a clue how to get this working?
