• Fatal error: Cannot redeclare class Custom_Background in /home/content/96/8404096/html/wp-admin/custom-background.php on line 16

This is the message I am seeing when I try to go to my dashboard. I have read some of the other posts and i see comments saying to change the theme you were using to something-old? I have no clue what any of this means. Please help! I dont even know where to begin…

  • Try:
    – switching to the Twenty Eleven theme by renaming your current theme’s folder inside wp-content/themes and adding “-old” to the end of the folder name using FTP or whatever file management application your host provides.

resetting the plugins folder by FTP or phpMyAdmin.

Where do I need to go to rename my current theme’s folder? Or how
do I do it? I’m reading the Master List now — but I don’t understand any of this. I am not computer saavy at all.

Where do I need to go to rename my current theme’s folder?

    wp-content/themes

Or how do I do it?

I tried going to wp-content/themes but I only get a blank white page. What is FTP and how would i know what file management application my host provides? What does that even mean?

    What is FTP

Did you try reading the FTP link I gave above?

and how would i know what file management application my host provides?

    Try asking them?

This works well. Kinda fools WP into thinking there is no theme there. The trick is contacting your host and requesting info to get access to your file system (just hope it’s not GoDaddy, unhelpful)
