Tried to troubleshoot for upload issues…now formatting is gone

I was having issues trying with trying to upload images so I tried to trouble shoot. THIS is the forum I tried to use to fix it. My webhosting is through webhostpython. When I went to the backend I went to the files >> public_html >> wp_content >> right clicked ‘uploads’ to get to the where it says to in the article. It wasn’t quite the same and there was only one option to change (there are 2 in the article) to allow permissions and that’s when everything messed up. I can upload images now (they don’t show up though) and my other formatting is gone!!! :'( I’m freaking out…idk what to do
