We use events calendar with tickets, no Woocommerce, simply tribe commerce. Now, we got feedback from some people having purchased tickets but did not get the email with the ticket. In the attendee list they do not show up. By checking PayPal, we find the transactions of these people, they have paid for tickets, transaction successful. They are very angry about having ordered and paid, but not receiving any ticket. And we dont know about their ticket purchase, unless searching in the PayPal transaction list. This is a huge conflict, and I would be more than happy to get some advice how to solve it.

  • Hi there,

I’d be happy to help with your question.

Tribe Commerce has a few limitations due to the PayPal API it uses.

The issue is that once users get to the PayPal checkout page, there is an option to “continue shopping” which takes them back to the site. If the user returns to the site before checking out, things will not work as expected. They will be able to pay for the tickets, but the attendees will not be generated, the tickets not sent out, and the remaining stock not adjusted accordingly.

There are also controls on the PayPal site that let the user adjust the quantities of tickets they are purchasing. Using these controls will result in the same issues as above.

The plugin developers are working on a replacement for Tribe Commerce that does not have these issues. In the meantime, I would recommend using WooCommerce and its built in PayPal solution instead.

Here’s an article that explains how to switch from Tribe Commerce to WooCommerce: https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/k/switching-from-tribe-commerce-to-woocommerce/

Let me know if you have any additional questions about this.

    Best,
    Sky
