I’ve been using WP statistics for a very long time (more than one year) and at this point it’s showing that I have 995 visitors in the last 30 days and 8964 in the last 365 days.

I downloaded Monster insights (google analytics plugin for WP) last week. Until now it’s showing that I had 2 visitors so far and 4 page views.

Now I expected that probably not all the numbers that I see in WP statistics are fully correct, but at this point it’s really weird.

Is it possible that 995 visitors were all bots or is it possible that there is something wrong with google analytics? (Page of google analytics is showing exactly the same what is monster insights showing).

How can I know who can I trust the best?

Anybody else had the same issue?

I downloaded now Matomo analytics to have more data to compare, but if someone else had the same issues and found solutions, I would love to hear about them.

    Kind regards,
    Anna

    Hi Anna,

    I hope you’re doing well.

First, please make sure you have blocked robots, IPs, and crawlers that are indexing your website. So, check the following matters:
    – Make sure the following option is disabled:
    Dashboard > Statistics > Settings > Exclusions > Exclusions > Record Exclusions

    – Also double-check the IP/Robot Exclusions section and make sure your desired options are enabled/disabled.

    – For more accurate stats, you can also use the HoneyPot feature that is located on the same settings page.

    Thank you!

All the settings were correct and bots were excluded.

I enabled the HoneyPot feature as you suggested.

I also did a little test and visited my website from my phone (not logged in to wordpress). WP statistics immediately counted my visit while google analytics is not showing it even after several hours.

So it might be a problem with them.

Thank you very much one more time,

    Kind regards,
    Anna
