    Trying out the free version to understand the plugin. I would be upgrading tool to paid if it suits my needs, as I have 1000s of entries.

    Created tree with 4 people, added shortcode to a page, and followed all the steps of in sections 1.2-1.4 of the instructions. Did the same for member page
    [family-tree family=’3′ root=’3434′] [family-members family=’3′]

    What is displayed is a gray box. Just like the gray box on your sample page
    https://www.treepress.net/family-tree-shakespeare/ (Sample 1).

    Tried a couple of themes, as that was mentioned it could be a factor. No difference in outcome. Tried Chrome and Safari.

    Thoughts?

    Sidenote: In your documentation, you use curly braces to show variable names,[family-tree family='{family_id}’]. When I first entered the shortcode I used the curly braces, [family-tree family='{3}’], though I thought it an odd format. I only found out by reading the support notes not to use them. Might be worthwhile to change the documentation to be clearer.

    The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

  • Hi,
    As you mentioned you added 4 people,did that equal three linked generation?
    You need three generations to show the tree.

    I have updated and confirmed that the people are linked.

    me-> father->his father

    I tried with just the short code [family-tree family=’3′] and with [family-tree family=’3′ root=’3434′] where root is the grandfather.

    As I mentioned, your own example is also showing a grey box. https://www.treepress.net/family-tree-shakespeare/

    Regardless of the issue related to display, it would be be a good idea to document the information about how many generations must be entered. Also about what root means. I’ll share more feedback on root on the question I asked.
