Transparent background

Love the plugin, which I’m using for the first time on demo site https://saf3.wpengine.com/. But there doesn’t seem to be a transparent background option. When I change the CSS to
‘.simple-social-icons ul li a, .simple-social-icons ul li a:hover {
background-color: transparent!important;
}’in Genesis Dynamik’s front-end CSS builder, it fixes it until I save, when it seems to revert back to defaults.
The only fix I’ve found so far suggests modifying the plugin files, which I’d prefer not to do: https://genesisdesignr.com/inset-text-shadow-with-social-icons/.
Am I missing something and will you be adding transparent backgrounds to future updates?
