Translation PO/MO file doesn't work

I am trying to localize WP User Manager into Japanese language.
The PO/MO files are ready:
wpum-ja_JP.mo
wpum-ja_JP.poI have read through the FAQ page().

Following the instruction, I placed the files in the directory
/wp-content/languages/wpum/.
But it doesn’t work.I also tried placing the PO/MO files in some other directories, but it didn’t work, either.
How can I make it work the translation(localization) file?
