• Hi, first of all thank you for making this plugin. Unfortunately it is not working for me. I translated a few lines from MYSTILE theme. It was particulary this file that I was translating – themes/mystile-child/lang/en_GB.po. I saved the translation but nothing happened. I tried installing your latest 1.4 version that I found in another topic but that has not solved the problem either. Any ideas what might be wrong? Thank you

  • Well, the thing is that these plugins aren’t magical. I just went through the installation myself, got it to work and it’s really nice and easy now.

So first, you need to setup a PO file that has the strings to be translated. If the plugin is translation friendly then it will have a POT file which is like the template file. So in my example the POT file was located here: /wp-content/plugins/quick-and-easy-faqs/languages/quick-and-easy-faqs-en_US.pot

So just copy that file, leave it in the same directory and rename it to the locale you are using ( this is the locale wordpress is configured to in the Settings -> General panel of the admin ). Mine is Mexican Spanish, so I copied the file to this name: quick-and-easy-faqs-es_MX.po

Notice I removed the POT extension and named it PO. Then open the PO file in an editor and change the line that says “Language: en_US\n” to your locale, in my case: “Language: es_MX\n”

    Save the file.

No we can get started with the Po/Mo Editor. We enter and in the list we shall see your newly created PO file for our locale. Just edit that, and save it. We are not done yet unfortunately.

When you save the file, Po/Mo Editor will create the MO file, which the file you need, but put it here: /wp-content/pomo-editor/plugins/quick-and-easy-faqs/languages
So just copy the MO file to where you got the POT file in the first place, maybe there’s other MO files there already. Refresh your page and it should work.

I did a symlink from the MO file created in the pomo-editor folder to my destination folder: /wp-content/plugins/quick-and-easy-faqs/languages/
Now every time I go into Po/Mo Editor to edit the file and save it, my translation just works instantly upon refreshing the page.
