Translation / Localization

  • Hi,

    I updated finally and I’m pretty surprised, that NextGen is working fine, so far. I expected something else.

    The only problem I was running in, is translation/ localization. Some parts I cannot get translated with Codestyling Localization. The german po-file isn’t complete and includes a couple of typos. Strange, because NextGen was a german Product before and the translation was perfekt.

    Not translatable is, for example…

    Sidebar → Gallery:

    – Add Gallery / Images
    – Gallery Settings
    – Other Options

    The other options in the sidebar are fine.

    Page */wp-admin/admin.php?page=ngg_addgallery

    The whole page is not translatable. That’s not good, because my client does not speak English.

    An other thing I found out is, that Codestyling Localization stores and saves the mo-file into the following folder:

    */nextgen-gallery/products/photocrati_nextgen/modules/ngglegacy/lang/

    and not into

    */nextgen-gallery/lang

    So I have to copy it over there, every time I’m doing changes.

    Are these known issues?

    The current version of NextGEN Gallery (obviously) does not meet the normal i18n standards but we will be addressing that in full with a future release once we feel we are at a much more universally stable version of the 2.0.x branch.

    We do appreciate the input and will definitely be looking for translators once we have fully prepared NextGEN Gallery to be i18n compliant.
