    Hello,
I just noticed your translation files may not be working correctly anymore. Are you aware of any trouble with it ?

More details about my situation (I use last versions of your plugin & bbpress) :

    1. I use LocoTranslate to customize my website language
    2. In the past, I was working with bbpress translation files directly, and everything was working fine when editing bbpress-fr_FR.po in custom location
    3. About 1 year ago, your translation files took over the bbpress one (we discussed that in this support topic and you told me it was because your plugin modifies some template files)
-> I made the necessary changes in your .po file at this time
    4. Today, I noticed the “Notify me of follow-up replies via email” is not translated anymore with your file (and the fallback translation seems to be bbpress translation files (but in system location instead of custom location which should be prioritary used here).

Is there anything I can do to have either your translation file or bbpress one (in custom location) work again ?

Thank you for your help ??
    Kind regards

Thanks for raising. @codejp3 did the bulk of the work on translations, and he is engaged elsewhere at the moment. But looking at my code, I have not made any changes affecting this area in releases in at least a year. That text is included in the bbp-style-pack-fr_FR.po so not sure quite why you are seeing an issue.

    Hello Robin !

    Hum. Strange.
Here is a video showing the issue I encounter : https://www.loom.com/share/6afd9152d86b492c8f68419d63fcc6cd?sid=e5f47420-852c-46ec-b23a-06f4e1cda317

    Hope it can help

    Kind regards

    ok, can you go to

    dashboard>settings>bbp style pack>topic reply form.

and let me know of you have any/all of items 6 7 or 8 selected

    Thread Starter maksanse

    (@maksanse)

Ok. I just checked and none of the mentionned settings are selected :

    6. Notify Default
    7. Remove Edit Logs
    8. Remove Edit Reason

    Plugin Author Robin W

    (@robin-w)

ok, that’s interesting as they are the only ones that should cause my template to load.

Is this a new issue? or do you not know?

Thank you for your fast answers ??

I just made a test with another of my sites that use version 5.7.2 of your plugin. There, your translation file is not used for this “Notify me of follow-up replies via email” item ? bbpress one is used (in custom location = the way it was working before your translation files took over).

So I would say this is an “old” issue that appeared between version 5.5.2 (= the version in the other topic discussed above, where I am sure your plugin was correctly translating) and version 5.7.2.

    Hope that helps !

sorry – you seem to say in 5.7.2 my translation file is not used, and this is what you want?, but then say that the problem is on 5.7.2.

Forget my deduction if it doesn’t make sense to you.
What I want is to have my website displaying the text I set ?? ! (I understand that with your plugin I have to use your file, but it currently doesn’t work for me. Is it working on your side ?)

    (@maksanse)

To be more precise : In version 5.7.2, your plugin don’t use your translation file, it use bbpress one (in custom location, which is normal choice if several files exist for 1 language).

If your plugin was always acting this way, it would be perfect to me (only one translation file to edit (bbpress one), no confusion to find ??where that string is translated??).

    Besides that :

    • your last version use bbpress (system location)
    • I know for sure that in version 5.5.2, your translation file was used.

    Hope that clarifies ??

thanks. To be clear I am just a guy sat in his kitchen writing code that I hope helps others – I get paid nothing for this and do it in any freetime I have.

I do not use locotranslate or indeed have any websites in other languages, so to fix which I am keen to do, I have limited time, so need your help to do so.

so 5.7.2 works, but 5.8.7 does not. I have looked at the .mo files and find no difference. I don’t know if locotranslate uses the mo or the po versions.

Can as a test you try deleting both the .po and the .mo files from the plugun in the 5.8.7 site and see if that fixes. If it does can you try adding back each in turn, and see which causes the error. If neither do, then that will at least tell me I don’t need to waste time looking at these files, but rather their usage.

So I really love what you do in your kitchen ?? and thank you again for your support with bbpress ??

? What I can do in LocoTranslate is deleting a “language file”.
I did it for the french files languages that were there. The site still uses the “bbpress system file” instead of the “bbpress custom file”.

What other tests can I do to help you ? (I tried to dig in the code but couldn’t find a place where you specify “in that case, use the bbpress translation with system location” or that kind of instruction).

    Best regards

I will pick this up, but I really need to set my test site up to replicate your issues so I can see what is happening.

I am a farmer and we are busy with sheep having lambs at the moment, so this may be a week or 2 before I get that done – can you cope with that?

    (@maksanse)

Wow ! That is a nice activity (and I finally understand the profile pic ?? !!).

I wish you the best for the nights & birth then ??
No problem for me to wait a bit.

Take care and talk to you soon ??

    Plugin Author Robin W

    (@robin-w)

ok, so I have a test site with just bbpress, style pack and loco translate as plugins, and I’ve set the site to be in french.

When I look at a topic creation form, I see

Me prévenir des réponses par e-mail.

so how do i create the problem you have?

    Thread Starter maksanse

    (@maksanse)

    Hello Robin !
Great ! Here is a video to help you reproduce the bug : https://www.loom.com/share/bf5d4a1fdfa444fcb2de7bb067d07d5a?sid=c1e11f8e-0f03-4ed1-a3f8-c36ee2e4d07b

Steps you can use when you have bbpress + bbp style pack + Loco Translate activated :
    1) Copy the bbpress system fr translation file to custom location (this custom location file won’t be erased in the next bbpress update, and wordpress use it in priority (normally)
    2) With your plugin activated, this custom location translation isn’t used (this is the bug we talk about)
    3) With your plugin deactivated, the custom location translation is used (no bug)

I hope everything makes sense for you. Don’t hesitate for any question you have and sorry for my bad english in the video ??
