• I’ve created my own .po file for WooCommerce as no-one in the UK uses the term ‘coupon’, we say ‘voucher’. However this gets overwritten when WooCommerce is updated. I can’t get my head around the online translation project so can I just send someone the .po file?

  • You can protect it from updating if you load up the Loco Translate plugin and keep your translated file in the custom location. See the Loco Translate documentation.

That’s a sledgehammer solution though. You’ll have it to maintain your .po file in perpetuity. For the odd word, Say What? is great:

In Say What?, the text domain is “woocommerce” and the string to be translated is the default string which you can get by temporarily switching to the EN_US language.
