translating the posts meta

Hello,
I like to know if its possible to translate the posts meta, i.e, the by,comments etc.. For now only the date was translated from april to avril..Is it possible..I tried to look for the same thread but cant find it..

We would like to have the by translated to Par and comments to Commentaires for french
